Musings on Self-Awareness

Welcome to my website, www.GinaMckee.com and my first blog post on Gina McKee Wellness.

Sometimes it feels like you were born into the wrong family.  Weird rules like, ‘don’t talk, don’t trust, don’t feel.‘  You believe you’re different from other kids.  Growing up is hard to do.

Then, slowly but surely it happens. You begin spending precious life energy unsuccessfully managing codependency, addictions, low self-esteem, health problems, dysfunctional relationships, shame-based thinking, free-floating anxiety and depression.  You unconsciously begin to inflict onto others the same emotional toxicity and pain you endured – because hurt people hurt people.   In sum, you emerge from a childhood broken with a damaged sense of Self.

And then you get sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I love helping people.  It started as far back as first grade when I asked the teacher if I could stay in at recess and help Brian (who everyone teased because he was different) with his reading.

You’re going through a major life transition or not handling stressful situations well?  Let me teach you how to stand tall with grace and dignity while the storms of life try to knock you down. Just began or ended another dysfunctional relationship?  I will explain why that is a constant theme in your life.  Want to deal with depression and anxiety?  We each have the ability and perseverance to go beyond our issues, our problems and troubles, and not have suffering label us as who we are. (there are probably people in your life right now who are an inspiration and testimony to that)

Pain can have a strong transformative power and way of leading people in the right directions. It definitely has for me. I have had my own battles to fight, and therefore, wounds to be healed.  Crosses to bear and ‘thorns in the flesh’ to live with; scars bearing witness to the healing cycle. The wounds of life itself, which caused great suffering, drove me to the inner journey that became the transformation itself.  And as a result of that process has successfully led me to a path of service where I can be a source of wisdom and inspiration to others.  A teacher of healing.

Enter Gina McKee Wellness.

Using values and life lessons inspired by mystics, philosophers and spiritual advisors like St. Brigid, Carl Jung, Eleanor Roosevelt, Carolyn Myss, Deepak Chopra, and Thich Naht Hahn, my intention is to empower you with a myriad of ways to increase self-awareness.  Without self-awareness it is impossible to transcend pain into peace.  Bridge mental illness and mental wellness; psyche and soul; unconscious and conscious; yin and yang; thoughts and feelings; brain and heart; Self and Divine…..it’s all about wholeness…not perfection. This is not an easy task, but no task is more urgent or worthwhile.
